Birthday Surprise

Today is Regan's 2nd birthday!!! Time flies and all that, right? We celebrated yesterday because of our schedule on Sundays. Anyhow, this was her first birthday that we celebrated. Last year, Andrew wasn't there and I didn't have the energy or enthusiasm to make a cake, buy gifts, etc. by myself. So, that'll be something I'm sure I'll pay for later in life... I never had a first birthday party, so you have to make it up to me..... HA! HA! HA!

I couldn't decide what to do for her cake. It's not like the other kids who can request a certain cake (alligators, rainbows, cars, etc.). So, as I was getting ready to bake the cake, I saw a picture of this on the back of the box and decided to try it. I started mixing and baking around 8am and was done by noon. It was really easy!!! And Regan loved all the colors and M&M's.

Regan LOVES dancing to music, so I kept that in mind when I got her presents. She especially loves the little guitar she got. She holds it and starts dancing.....these are the moments I want to remember!

Halloween 2009

Here are some fun Halloween pictures of the kids this year. Aurora was a rag doll, Jesse was Spiderman (the anorexic version), and Regan was Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. They had so much fun getting dressed up. Jesse wasn't sure about the makeup at the beginning, but he got with the program, obviously! This was Regan's first year to dress up too. Last year would have been her first Halloween, but I was in DE by myself with the kids last year and I wasn't about to cart her all around the neighborhood.

Here's a little bit of Christmas humor to get you in the mood: Jesse said that if we have been naughty this year, the Naughty Santa will bring us naughty presents!!! When asked what were "naughty presents" Jesse said, "greasy candy canes, real dragons, real lions, and black and gray cats." Well, hope no one gets "naughty presents" this year!!!!

You are what you eat!!

I was talking to the kids a few days ago about where the food they eat comes from. Doesn't everybody have this discussion at some time with their kids??? When they have to break the news that the cute cow or pig or chicken the kids have seen are really the source of our foods???? I love shattering my childrens' perceptions..... :)

So, we talked about chicken nuggets coming from chickens......bacon coming from pigs.....steak coming from cows...... They seemed to be okay with all of this. Even excited to find out everything that we eat off of animals. Then there was a moment of silence as they each thought about all the foods that they eat. Afterwards, Jesse turns to me and says, "What kind of meat comes from a Yak?" Priceless!!!

Once in a Lifetime

My sister-in-law posted this picture on her blog, but I wanted to post it here too with a little explanation. Because of Jakob's (Andrew's brother) sweet mother-in-law, Andrew gets to go to some of the BYU football games for free. And because this mother-in-law is the President of the BYU Varsity Club, Andrew gets to "help" with the tailgate party beforehand where he meets all sorts of former players. This, to Andrew, is heaven!! And there's one player that Andrew has always loved more than others, Ty Detmer.....

Ever since he was a young kid, he's followed Ty's career. His favorite number is "14" - Ty's BYU jersey number! So, when he came home a couple weeks ago and said he actually got to meet Ty Detmer, I knew this was a huge experience for him. You can see that by looking at the big smile on his face.....Thanks Melissa for posting this!

Fall Memories

These are the days when I really miss living in West Virginia. The air just smelled different there. I loved waking up to cool mornings, going to school, and counting down the days until our October vacation in Tennessee. This is my favorite time of year.....and my heart longs for those beautiful fall days again!

Playing in the Park

On Andrew's day off we like finding fun things we can all do together and since the weather has been so nice lately, we decided we needed to have a picnic and play at the park. It was lots of fun to see the kids playing and I thought I'd share some of our fun with you.
